What is the Census?
The census is a count of everyone living in the United States every 10 years.
The census is mandated by the U.S. Constitution.
The next census is in 2010.
Your participation in the census is required by law.
It takes less than 10 minutes to complete 10 questions.
Federal law protects the personal information you share during the census.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
By Tim V. Tran
Dear CBC members, friends and supporters,
Hello and welcome to our May/June newsletter. As you may be aware, CBC celebrated its spectacular 18th Annual Spring Celebration on April 24. It was a wonderful, class-A event attended by many devoted supporters and sponsors alike.
As we move into summer and continue to fill the needs of the community, I want to take this opportunity to share with you something that is very near and dear to my heart and how it relates to CBC.
As a recent graduate of the Leadership Fremont class of 2010, I want to focus this month’s article on the topic of leadership.
Much as been written and debated over various leadership styles and the importance of being a leader.
First and foremost, I believe that leaders are made and not born. Some people are born with the innate ability to attract others but that does not make them fine leaders. Leadership skills are acquired through life-long training, experience and a desire to make a difference in community lives.
Excellent leaders are hard to find mainly because only a few can truly crystallize the knowledge and experiences gained and transform that energy to demand excellence in everyone. When things go awry, leaders look in the mirror and blame themselves. When success is achieved, excellent leaders know to thank and give credit to their followers.
Presidents of organizations know that to lead effectively, they must first build solid relationships in order to gain influence and support. Assessment of individuals, core values and a bird’s eye focus on character building allow leaders to easily accomplish the organization’s objectives and mission. It takes courage, a logical thought process and awareness of other’s strengths to synthesize them into the success of the organization.
At CBC, everyone is a leader in his or her own right. Whether at work, community or home, we all have a set core values that we live by.
CBC is a place where each of us has the opportunity to cultivate our core values and convert them into value promises. Members of CBC take community service with a passion and that determination to serve is reflected in our actions as we continue to mature as an organization.
Enjoy your summer!
Tim V. Tran
CBC President 2009-2010
