Offering Local Chinese American Youth:
1. Communication and Leadership Skills Development
2. Exposure to The Legislative Process (Federal, State & Local)
3. Practical Work Experience
4. Opportunity to Work With Legislators to Help Our Community
5. Source of Recommendation Letter for Future College and Jobs
Qualifications:
1. Chinese American, 16 years or older as of June 1, 2010
2. High school Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
3. Resident of the San Francisco Bay Area
4. Preference given to families of CBC members
5. CBC Toastmaster Youth Leadership Program experience is a plus
Requirements:
1. Able to work 3 to 6 hours a week (total of at least 60 hours during the summer)
2. 3 to 5 month commitment (to be negotiated with legislative offices)
3. An essay describing your experience at the end of the term
4. Must attend the interview process on 4/10/2010 (place TBD)
5. Must be able to take one Saturday (full day) training class in Cupertino/San Jose; date to be determined (between 5/2 to 5/16/2010). CBC will pay for the training expense.
6. Must be available to meet for orientation as well as 2 evenings during the summer for Interns' Progress Meetings
7. Reliable transportation to/from designated internship office
At the End of the Program, You Will Receive:
1. $200 Stipend or Community Service Hours
2. Certificate of Completion Awarded at the Annual CBC Interns’ Appreciation Luncheon
3. Possible Recommendation Letter From an Elected Official
