Youth Internship Program
Offering Local Chinese American Youth
Communication and Leadership Skills Development.
Exposure to The Legislative Process (Federal, State & Local).
Career development preparation
Opportunity to Work with Legislators to Help Our Community.
Opportunity to get a Recommendation Letter for Future College and/or Job application.
Qualifications
Chinese American, must be 16 years or older.
High school Junior or Senior student with GPA 3.4 or above; College students with GPA 3.25 or above for certain internship assignments.
Resident of the East Bay, Tri-City Area.
CBC Gold or Lifetime membership required (Parents can apply for membership immediately by clicking here)
CBC Toastmaster Youth Leadership Program/Gavel Club experience will be given priority
Requirements
MUST be able to work 3 to 6 hours a week (total of at least 60 hours during summer).
MUST be able to make a 2 – 5 month commitment (to be determined by local government agencies or legislative offices).
MUST write a report describing your experience and service hours at the end of the internship.
MUST attend the interview process. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
MUST be able to take one training session in Fremont prior internship assignment; date to be determined.
MUST be available to attend orientation and other CBC summer events (e.g. CBC 4th of July parade and CBC summer BBQ event)
MUST have reliable transportation to/from designated internship offices.
At the End of the Program, You Will Receive:
Community Service-Learning Hours
Certificate of Completion awarded from both CBC and Internship Office at the Annual CBC Interns’ Appreciation Luncheon in November /early December.
Possible a Recommendation Letter from the internship Office.
Can help students to apply for the Bronze Award of President's Volunteer Service Award if internship service hours are over 100.
The office assignment will be done after the interview at CBC’s discretion.
